GRIEF IN YELLOW, BLACK, AND GREEN
"From my recent trip to Jamaica, I noticed something. Visiting my late-father's side of the family in Hopewell, Jamaica their home has been under renovation for as long as I knew. Always filled with my family laughing, my grandmother yelling at the kids, listening to reggae, or playing dominos on the veranda. This time around, I was greeted to a finished place with missing individuals. The porch empty and quiet; walking into the home was riddled with death. Many passings have affected my family within the last 6 years. The mention of death looms the home, yet my family still smiles and laughs. I felt the need to document how grief has affected my family in Jamaica. And how mental health is portrayed differently outside of my life in Canada."
